Meet the Characters

Our little Ava is an adventurous girl with a dream to visit Grimm World she always heard about in her Uncle’s story. As she receives the Story Pendant as a birthday gift from Uncle DJ, she begins her search in excitement to reach Grimm World.

Ava meets Jbear, a guardian of the Book of Stories who becomes her guide and best friend/companion that protects her as they visit Grimm World. There Ava and Jbear meet different characters along their journey as they solve puzzles and riddles that’s happening in Grimm World.

Let’s meet our super adventurous characters that will stay with you throughout “The Book of Stories,’ first, by taking you through Season 1: Grimm World.

Ava

The Time Traveler

a free-spirited, book-smart girl with a knack for adventures. She is curious, witty, honest, and speaks her mind. Her best friends are Imani, Zander, & JBear.

JBear

The Companion

Extremely loyal and kind, JBear is Ava’s most trusted companion. JBear is always ready for an adventure, however, he is not one to take unnecessary risks along the way. He feels responsible for Ava, and keeping her safe while traveling through Grim World is his number one priority. Despite being a cautious explorer, JBear has a goofy sense of humor that always lightens the mood and lifts Ava’s spirit during tough times.

Imani

A lively friend and teammate, Imani compliments Ava’s adventurous spirit. She is known to be very energetic and competitive. She loves to play pranks, even though she sometimes gets in trouble for them. Imani’s sense of humor and enthusiasm fuels a friendly rivalry between her and Ava, though neither of them take it too seriously. At the end of the day, they are just two friends who love to laugh and learn from each other.

Zander

“Zan-Zan” is one of Ava’s best friends. Very sporty and active, but with a sensitive soul, he likes writing poetry and painting, which impresses Ava a lot. Zander is the best soccer player in school and has a very accepting and open heart, which his parents have tried very hard to encourage. His mom, Rose, is trans and very much into social justice. She works with a labor union and is part of a multicultural activism circle.

Rachel (Ava’s mom)

A fun spirited mom with a lot of wisdom from life experiences that she and her older sisters have shared with Ava. She encourages Ava to discover new worlds through reading. She is a career woman and a can-doer, just like her daughter. Rachel is the stability and foundation of the family. She’s very supportive of Oliver and Ava as they go on their many adventures together.

Bricks Piggleton

Bricks is hard-working, strong, and very knowledgeable. Out of all the Piggleton brothers he is the most reliable and can always be counted on to get the job done.

Frederick: “Big Bad Brother” Wolfson

The current oldest of the wolves, Fred takes over terrorizing Little Red Riding Hood and Grandma Red. As Fastidious was the most aggressive of the brothers, Fred is more patient and cunning. He sees an opportunity with Ava and decides to use her to further his own agenda. Earthy, deeply loyal to his brothers, and a little grouchy, Frederick gets tired of Fastidious’s schemes and would much prefer a quiet life tending to his turnip beds.

Uncle DJ(Ava’s Uncle)

Uncle DJ is good-natured, charming, and full of wisdom. Both Ava and her dad, Oliver, look up to him as an honorary member of their family tree. Uncle DJ has many stories to share, including tales from the time he spent in Grimm World as a young boy. Now too old for adventure, Uncle DJ is happy to share the key to entering Grimm World with Ava, when he gives her a magical pendant on her birthday.

Sticks Piggleton

Sticks Piggleton is curious, thrifty, and impatient. He is the most innovative and scrappy of the three piggleton brothers. For every problem, he offers many solutions, although they are all only quick fixes that tend to promptly unravel.

Woody Piggleton

Woody is goofy, easy going, and lazy. He is readily distractible and does not use caution in possibly dangerous situations! Woody relies on his Piggleton brothers to keep him on track, as he sometimes wanders off in both thoughts and actions.

Oliver (Ava’s Dad)

A wise and well-versed man, he may not have the best jokes, but he always means well in the more playful side of his nature. As JBear is an excellent balance to Ava, Oliver balances his wife’s go-to attitude with a more patient and perceptive point of view.

Grandma Red

A model of toughness and vitality, Grandma Red is fiercely independent. Some people think she is a little crazy to live out in a creepy forest all by herself. She’s sickly at times, so that’s why Little Red has to visit often and bring supplies.

Little Red Riding Hood

Marie, nicknamed “Little Red Riding Hood,” is the child of an herbalist and a merchant. She got her nickname from the beautiful red cloak her merchant father bought for her from his travels along the Silk Road. Mischievous and intelligent, she is considered somewhat odd among the other villagers, though she is envied for her family’s wealth and sometimes gets a big head as a result. Red is as good, kind, sweet and passive as most traditional fairy tale heroines, doing very little for herself – her mother sends her to visit her grandmother, the wolf tricks her into staying off the path and then into getting eaten.

Karl the Woodcutter

Hansel and Gretel's adoptive father and the Mayor/Sheriff of Grimm World. He is cousins with the royal cook, who brought two twins to Karl's safety. Karl has cared for the twins since their infancy. He has a kind soul, is hardworking, and fights to protect his family and the inhabitants of Grimm World, but he falls under the influence of an evil woman and renounces his children. Eventually realizes his children are the most important thing and must fight for them. He was initially in the logging industry, where he mastered the techniques of harvesting and transporting trees for ultimate processing in forest products.

Aunt Isabella ‘Izzy’ (Rachel’s Sister)

Rachel’s older sister who is the eldest and most chill. She has a calm demeanor and is always fashion-forward. She keeps in touch with what’s happening in the world of dos and don’ts. Loves to spoil her relatives and sometimes herself.

Personality Traits: Sophisticated, Sympathetic, Responsible, Protective, Polished, Patient, Loyal

Angelica

A friend of the forest, Angelica's greatest hope is to restore peace and balance to Grimm World. She is generous and kind, though very timid at times. Many people and creatures travel through the forest, and it can be difficult for Angelica to determine who she can trust. Nevertheless, Angelica never loses faith that she will be able to make a difference in Grimm World by helping others.
